When I found a hole in a favorite cashmere sweater, a gift from my sister Shirley, I couldn't bring myself to throw it away. Instead, I started looking for ways to turn it into something I could wear again. That raggedy sweater sparked what is now Lindfors Sisters Cashmere Creations. What started as sewing old sweaters into blankets, scarves, and mittens naturally grew into a way to keep luxury fabrics out of landfills and a perfect excuse for "Shirl" and me to spend time together doing what we’ve always loved: sewing.
Shirl and I have been sewing together our whole lives, from our own childhood clothes and wedding gowns to our current projects in retirement. Today, we search thrift stores for discarded cashmere sweaters too worn to wear and transform them into one-of-a-kind blankets, scarves, and mittens, all handmade right here in Colorado. Through our craft, we get to share a little warmth with our community while saving up for a trip to New Zealand to personally deliver handmade blankets to my four grandchildren.
